Is the Saudi Crown Prince Serious About Reform?

Time Magazine editor-at-large Karl Vick talks about his interview of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Bin Salman, and whether he is serious about reform. MBS (as he's sometimes called) has taken over the kingdom -- his father is nominally in charge -- but he's "looking for a new start...to remake the brand. It's like a startup pitch he's giving." The Saudis are entirely dependent on oil, but MBS wants to diversify -- he wants money and investors from the U.S.
@karl_vick says the Saudis don't make any pretense that it's a democracy. The pitch is, they'll be a reliable ally, a bulwark against Iran. They say they'll be a more "moderate kingdom" where "women will get more rights."
