A group of Atlantic City casino workers is suing New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, hoping to end a long-standing carveout in state law that lets casinos allow smoking on the gambling floor, even though it’s banned in virtually every other business.
Pete Naccarelli and Lamont White, casino dealers and co-founders of the group “Casino Employees Against Smoking’s Harmful Effects” or CEASE, filed a lawsuit with United Auto Workers, arguing their constitutional rights have been violated by allowing casinos to force employees to work in unhealthy conditions.
They both talked with WNYC's Sean Carlson more about their effort.
