Babette Deutsch Talks about Daniel Hoffman
Babette Deutsch introduces and talks about the poet Daniel Hoffman, author of An Armada of Thirty Whales and the youngest poet featured in Deutsch's series. He does not appear on the record.
She discusses the Yale Series of Younger Poets prize received by Hoffman, awarded by no less a figure than W. H. Auden. She praises the smallness of his work, though it is based on big themes, and discusses the imagery of the sea which pervades his work. She also mentions his work as an English instructor at Columbia, his volume on Paul Bunyan, and his young daughter.
