A shortened baseball season under COVID restrictions -- like players wearing masks and cardboard cutout fans in the stadium -- starts this Thursday with the Yankees in Washington D.C. But Friday will be New York's first home game at Citi Field between The Mets and the Atlanta Braves.
While many things are different this year, fans watching from home may still be able to hear a familiar voice, PA announcer Marysol Castro. She's been back to the stadium but said she's noticed some new sounds. " I was suddenly acutely aware of the landscaper. Acutely aware of the bench coach. Acutely aware of the baseball hitting the catcher's mitt."
Marysol Castro spoke WNYC's Jami Floyd. Click above to listen to the full conversation.
