Board of Elections Suspends Top Brooklyn Clerk Following Primary Problems

You'll need to register to vote by March 25th if you want to cast a vote in New York's primary on April 19, 2016.

The Board of Elections suspended without pay the Chief Clerk at the Brooklyn Boro office on Thursday pending an investigation.

The personnel move comes after widespread reports of irregularities at the polls during Tuesday's presidential primaries. WNYC has reported that 126,000 voters were dropped from the registration rolls in the months leading up to the vote.

Diane Haslett-Rudiano has served in the position since at least 2006.

A termination from the Board requires a vote by the commissioners.

The next commissioner meeting is Tuesday afternoon.
