Siddhartha Mukherjee Breaks Down the Elusive History of Genetics

Ten years after the completion of the human genome project, this genomics hub, the Broad Institute, has become a major scientific powerhouse.

Physician, scientist and author Siddhartha Mukherjee won a Pulitzer Prize in 2011 for his groundbreaking "biography" of cancer, The Emperor of All Maladies. In The Gene: An Intimate History, Mukherjee embarks on a journey to understand the history of genetics from a scientific and personal perspective, incorporating the narrative of his family’s own long, tragic experience with mental illness.

Event: Siddhartha Mukherjee will be in conversation with New Yorker editor David Remnick, at the New York Public Library (in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, Celeste Bartos Forum, Fifth Avenue at 42nd Street) at 7 p.m.
