Broadway Is Closed, But The Raccoon Show Plays Every Day In Riverside Park

With Broadway theaters and concert venues closed for the foreseeable future due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are few opportunities for New Yorkers to see live performances.

But some New Yorkers are being treated to a nightly show by some unlikely performers: raccoons in Riverside Park. Gothamist editor Ben Yakas says he and his neighbors have taken to checking in on the furry family's antics throughout the summer.

"You'll see them scurrying along the walls, and there's five or six kids and they're always up to something," Yakas said. "They're always sort of playing with each other, or poking their head out."
