About the Lehrer Prize: Founded to commemorate Brian Lehrer’s 30th anniversary on-air at WNYC, The Lehrer Prize recognizes a standout idea, person, group, or effort that has contributed meaningfully to life in New York City and the surrounding areas over the past year. Each honoree receives $2,500 to continue their organization's outstanding work.This year, the prize recognizes organizations that have gone above and beyond to advocate for vaccination in their communities.

India Home
Vasundhara Kalasapudi, MD, a geriatric psychiatrist and executive director of India Home, a non-profit organization founded in 2007 dedicated to addressing the needs of the Indian and larger South Asian senior citizen immigrant community, talks about her organization’s work shifting their work during the pandemic to provide vaccine access to their mostly non-English speaking community.
Bed-Stuy Strong
Carolyn Ruvkun and Christina Xu talk about their work with Bed-Stuy Strong, an online community and mutual aid network founded in 2020 in response to the pandemic.
