City Beefs Up Capacity to Enforce New COVID-19 Restrictions In Targeted Neighborhoods

For two nights, members of New York City’s Orthodox Jewish community have taken to the streets of Borough Park, Brooklyn to protest the state’s new coronavirus restrictions. Officials say they’re intended to stop the spread of the virus in hotspot neighborhoods where infections are spiking. The governor says it’s up to local governments to enforce Covid-19 restrictions. But as the virus surges again, it’s not entirely clear how enforcement will happen — especially in communities where residents feel unfairly singled out. WNYC's Sean Carlson talks to reporters Gwynne Hogan and Yasmeen Khan about the new rules.
