WNYC is taking a closer look at some of the most competitive City Council races in partnership with City Limits and Gotham Gazette.
Some of the biggest concerns for residents of District 41 in eastern Brooklyn — which includes Ocean Hill, Brownsville and parts of Bedford–Stuyvesant — are the quality of their public schools, public housing and accessibility to transportation.
There are nine candidates in the primary Democratic ballot and the winner will be responsible for keeping District 41's problems in the spotlight, according to Jarrett Murphy, executive editor of City Limits.
Murphy spoke to WNYC's Richard Hake.
