Three Staten Island students and the group Disability Rights New York claim kids in District 75 aren't getting the equal education they're entitled to under law.
More than 25,000 students with moderate to severe disabilities attend District 75 schools. The suit claims these separate schools don't provide equal access to playgrounds, libraries and extra curricular programs. It says one plaintiffs gets vocational instruction, with activities that include mopping, when she could attend her local high school with the right support.
A department of education spokesperson says District 75 schools provide high quality instruction and that students are assigned to them after meetings which include their parents.
