Coffers Shrinking, Area Hospitals Await Aid

The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged the financial health of hospitals. A first round of federal aid in April, worth $30 billion, had a little something for everyone, but local hospitals said it wasn't nearly enough to cover the skyrocketing costs and shrinking revenue that comes from being at the center of the outbreak. A new $12 billion round of funding is for 395 "hot spot hospitals," including 90 in New York and 53 in New Jersey.
