Dear Prudie (and Brian): Advice On The Air

Advice at Lasell College

During the month of August, Brian was joined by Jenée Desmond-Harris, who writes and hosts Slate's "Dear Prudence" advice column and podcast.

Our first installment: Neighbors Obstructing Hallway, and Political Rantings Obstructing Friendship

An issue with apartment neighbors who keep their bulky belongings in a shared hallway; and a man who is concerned that his friend's political rantings are getting in the way of their friendship.

In our second installment: Should I Keep My Mom's Secret? and Will My Daughter's Relationship Hurt Her Mental Health?

The 'Political Friend' letter writer joined with an update on what happened when he implemented Brian and Jenée's advice. Plus, parents who are concerned about how their daughter's love life might impact her mental health; and a daughter who has been asked to keep her mother's long-term relationship a secret from the rest of the family.

Our third and final installment: How Not To Be A Wallflower, and How To Address Your Spouse's Inappropriate Texting

How to navigate being a newcomer when your partner's friend group has a long, shared history. Plus, advice for a woman whose 50-year old husband appears to be texting an 18-year old girl about their 'shared interests' while neglecting the interests of his own 16- and 19-year old daughters.

Brian also joined Jenée on Slate's 'Dear Prudence' podcast, where they shared their advice for a man who is uncomfortable that his wife goes bra-less around their teenage sons; how to navigate different levels of COVID cautiousness among roommates; and how to split a check when some people eat the appetizer, and some don't.
