Author and activist Bill McKibben discusses President Obama’s newest proposals to address climate change. He also looks at the complicated relationship between electric-utility companies and alternative energy and how big, slow utility companies need to embrace new technologies and adapt more quickly in order to decrease carbon footprints across the country. His article on the subject, “Power to the People” appeared in the June 29 issue of The New Yorker. He’s also the author of the books Oil and Honey and Eaarth.
