Fox's hip-hopera "Empire" has a bold cast and even bolder ambitions. Creator Lee Daniels - he of Precious and The Butler fame - has assembled Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard and multi-platinum producer Timbaland to give life to a prime-time musical drama with shades of King Lear, Dynasty and Nashville.
On the second episode, the family dynamics simmer over a musical showcase engineered by patriarch Lucius Lyon to promote rapping playboy Hakeem, but not earnest (and gay) Jamal. The inimitable Cookie Lyon isn't having it, and decides to create a coming-out party of her own. Get on your bibs, it's time to talk about episode two!
