Hear guitars aplenty, from a performance by the Afro-poppy minimalist band Empyrean Atlas to Noveller's looped soundscapes, and works by Robert Fripp and the League of Crafty Guitarists.

Empyrean Atlas looks like a rock band but sounds like a cross between Philip Glass and King Sunny Ade.  Blending the sounds of West African pop with New York minimalism, Brooklyn-based composer/guitarist/sax player David Crowell leads a quintet that includes two additional guitarists with bass and drums.  Their latest record, "Inner Circle" has just been released and they join us in the studio to perform some of those shimmery motoric pulse-driven tunes. 

Then, listen to music from Noveller, the moniker of guitarist and composer Sarah Lipstate, who uses lots of looping devices to create ambient electronic guitar-driven sonic landscapes.  Plus multiple guitar works by Robert Fripp and the League of Crafty Guitarists, and just a little Dominic Frasca.
