Last December, 22 million people tuned to NBC to watch “The Sound of Music Live Live." It starred country singer Carrie Underwood as Maria Von Trapp, and it was the most-watched Thursday night event in a decade, excluding sports.
Despite the high ratings, the live musical theatre production was panned by most critics. And all those viewers? Many of them were hate-watching, and they left a long trail of disparaging tweets and status updates across the web to illustrate their feelings.
NBC is presenting another live musical theater production on Thursday: "Peter Pan Live" starring Alison Williams, of "Girls" fame as Peter Pan and Christopher Walken as Captain Hook.
With flying actors and new songs, there's the potential for a little more disaster this year. But in this preview, Kristen Meinzer of the Movie Date podcast insists that disaster is all part of the fun. "It's almost better if it's bad. People love seeing a fiasco. They just love it. They want to see things get worse and worse and worse," she said.
Kristen will be live-tweeting "Peter Pan Live" on Thursday, along with the masses, at 8 pm Eastern Time.
