Head Of NJ Transit Slammed By Lawmakers

Things got off on the wrong foot when Kevin Corbett showed up alone -- snubbing lawmakers' requests to bring his management team with him.

Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg then slammed the agency's customer advocate for failing to represent commuters. Weinberg says Stewart Mader sent a Tweet attacking a reporter for The Record newspaper on Thursday after an article exposed potential patronage hires at the troubled transit agency.

"No one could have confidence in his ability to be a spokesperson for commuters when he is tweet bashing reporters," Weinberg said.

Senate President Steve Sweeney had threatened to subpoena transit employees if they failed to testify before the committee. Corbett promised to bring staffers to the next hearing.
