Helping Hand? Obama Stumps for Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy

Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy is getting some help from the White House in his bid for re-election. President Obama touches down in Bridgeport Wednesday for a rally in support of Malloy and other Connecticut Democrats. Obama is the latest big-name Democrat to swing through the state in an effort to boost the governor's campaign, which is running neck and neck with second-time Republican challenger Tom Foley. Former President Bill Clinton visited the state earlier this week, using the visit to trumpet the governor's efforts to jump-start the Connecticut economy.

WNYC's Soterios Johnson spoke with Colin McEnroe, host of WNPR's "Colin McEnroe Show" and a blogger and columnist for the Hartford Courant.

UPDATE: President Obama canceled his trips to Connecticut and New Jersey Wednesday in order to meet with cabinet officials on the government's Ebola response.
