A master interpreter of the Great American Songbook, Ella Fitzgerald's three octave range gained her international attention. By the time of of her death in 1996, Ella Fitzgerald had more than earned the nickname "The Queen of Jazz", having won 14 Grammy Awards and selling over 40 million records.
