Behind the Smoke Screen: The Toxic Chemicals in E-Cigarettes

How safe are e-cigarettes?

E-cigarettes have been touted as a way to reduce the health problems associated with smoking tobacco, but their growing popularity has opened up a debate over these safety claims. Some e-cigarettes include toxic ingredients, and have a tendency to explode. Monona Rossol, an industrial hygienist, safety officer and President of  Arts, Crafts & Theater Safety, Inc., will talk about the toxic chemicals used in e-cigarettes, which have become increasingly popular with teens and young adults. She’ll also discuss health issues involving other new technologies such as 3-D printers which release toxic fumes from melting plastics.
