How College Athletes Fought Back Against the Abuses of the NCAA

College Basketball: NCAA Final Four: UCLA Ed O'Bannon (31) in action, rebounding vs Arkansas at Kingdome. Seattle, WA 4/3/1995.

Only about 5% of college athletes in the NCAA go on to professional careers in the NFL or NBA. What happens to the majority of student athletes who don't turn pro? New York Times columnist Joe Nocera investigated how the NCAA exploited young athletes and lured them onto top-division college teams with the promise of careers in Indentured: The Inside Story of the Rebellion Against the NCAA. He reveals how a group of players organized to expose the abuses of the organization.

Event: Joe Nocera will be in conversation with WNYC's Jami Floyd and legal expert Ekow Yankah on March 15th at 6:00 p.m. at the New York Public Library (5th Ave at 42nd Street).
