For Uber & Lyft Drivers, Congestion Costs Money

There are more than 100,000 for-hire vehicles in the city, the majority using ride-hailing apps. Last summer the city temporarily capped the number of these vehicles to fight congestion. For drivers already on the streets congestion eats into their paycheck daily. And as soon as next month, the state may impose a $2.75 "congestion charge" on each ride. WNYC spent a few hours with Lyft driver Percy Henderson to learn about how he copes.
