How to Prevent Gun Violence As a Civilian: Be Available, Be Compassionate, Deescalate

Community-based groups will be out in New York City this weekend, stepping in to prevent shootings during a summer that's had a surge in gun violence. These groups say they've been working with a tiny fraction of the resources that police have, but with local credibility — because of their own ties to the neighborhoods. WNYC's Yasmeen Khan spoke with one woman who’s preparing for her rounds this Labor Day Weekend.
