Since the pandemic started, hundreds of homeless New Yorkers have left the streets and subways, places where they, in many cases, lived for years. Now, they have a roof over their heads. One reason the city’s been successful in its efforts to get homeless people indoors is that it’s been offering private rooms instead of traditional shelters.
