The first heat wave of the year arrived in the New York region this week. New York City, like any other city, has greater potential for trapping heat and making it feel hotter than neighboring suburbs.
Jennifer Brady is a researcher for Climate Central who studies urban heat island effects across the country. She joined WNYC's Sean Carlson to discuss the Urban Heat Island effect, and to discuss how the city experiences extremely hot temperatures, as well as what New Yorkers can do to help beat the heat.
