The U.S. prison population is over 2.4 million - a number that has more than quadrupled since 1980, according to a 2013 report from The Washington Post. As more attention is paid to mass incarceration levels in the U.S., professor, journalist and prison-rights activist Baz Dreisinger spent two years investigating global prisons in Incarceration Nations: A Journey to Justice Prisons Around the World .
