Andrea Bernstein, senior editor for politics and policy for WNYC News, and Dante Chinni, director of the American Communities project, offer analysis of Iowa's choices in last night's caucus.
"Trump was the big loser because...he didn't win," said Dante with a laugh. But when you look at the results county-by-county, he said, Marco Rubio was the big winner of the night. Dante thinks Rubio is the closest the GOP has to an establishment candidate right now, pointing out that Rubio won the same counties as Mitt Romney did last time around.
Andrea explained - "I know we always say this and then we forget it the second we say it" - that polls are only a snap shot, and so the polls from a few days ago that showed Trump and Cruz neck-and-neck weren't necessarily wrong. She added, last night's caucus brought out more Republican voters than ever before.
