Jeff Daniels discusses his upcoming concerts at 54Below, January 2-4, and his Emmy-winning role on the HBO series “The Newsroom.” Joined by mandolin player Brad Phillips played lived in our studios, after warming up in our green room.

Daniels picked up the guitar as a young actor and it became an important creative outlet for him. "Every actor wants to direct. I wanted to write. And the guitar became a great outlet for that." 

Guesthost Elliott Forrest asked Jeff Daniels about the advice that he has for guest stars on Aaron Sorkin's series "The Newsroom," with its trademark fast-paced dialogue. "Know [the script]. And know what you're going to do with it." But, he said, the cast had seen a few "Chernobyl" moments.

And 2014 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Dumb and Dumber, and a sequel (Dumb and Dumber To) will be released later this year. Jeff Daniels gave us this preview: "I can tell you that we're middle-aged and still that stupid. And we may have regressed, intellectually."
