In a recent campaign ad challenging Congressman Max Rose, Republican state legislator Nicole Malliotakis warns that Black Lives Matter and Democratic policies will hamstring the NYPD to such an extent that the rule of law could disintegrate.

“The only thing standing between us and violent chaos,” warns the voiceover, “is a thin blue line.”

The appeal seems to have traction in this purple district, which could flip (back) to Republicans this November.
