Marrow is the soft, flexible tissue living in the cavities of bones. It's where blood cells are created and has long been seen as a symbol for strength and vitality (think Henry David Thoreau). Marrow is also the name of a band, made of former members of Chicago's well-known group, Kids These Days. In this case–Macie Stewart (keys, guitar, vox), Liam Cunningham (guitar, vox), Lane Beckstrom (bass, vox), and Matt Carroll (drums, vox) act as the revitalized blood cells of a fractured bone (or former band) and they're stronger than ever with their new project. Marrow's sophomore album, The Gold Standard, leaves room for gorgeous harmonies and delicate melodies. Its subtly folk, twangy guitars ring out in an infinite space, but that doesn't mean it doesn't include '70s funk, post-punk, and even reggae influences. Hear for yourself as they play a few songs from the fresh record in-studio.
