New York City Mayor Eric Adams has announced new plans to fight gun violence. The announcement follows a series of high profile incidents, including the fatal shooting of two NYPD officers.
Adams says he's putting more officers on patrol in high-crime neighborhoods, and hiring more so-called violence interruptors to mediate conflicts. But some critics are criticizing parts of the plan, like the idea of bringing back a controversial plainclothes anti-crime unit.
