Michael Bloomberg Is Using An Unorthodox Campaign Strategy For His 2020 Bid

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been in the Democratic primary for just over two weeks now, and in that time he's spent more money on ads than all the Democratic front-runners combined. It's part of a very different campaign strategy from any of his rivals, and one that has the potential to change how the primary contest works.

Washington Post national political reporter Isaac Stanley-Becker recently wrote about the Bloomberg campaign's choice to pass on joining the pack of Democrats in early primary states like Iowa and New Hampshire in favor of swing states that could pull in plenty of Electoral College votes in the 2020 presidential election. He spoke with WNYC's Richard Hake about how that and his personal fortune could make him a formidable player in the primary.
