MTA Honors 83 Victims Of COVID-19

The MTA board has approved $500,000 payments to families of workers who’ve died from COVID-19. At its monthly meeting, board members remembered some of the 83 transit workers lost.

There have been 52 subway workers and 30 bus workers who have died, plus one worker from Metro-North.

“We’d like to recognize the loss of John Oles, and we would also like to offer our condolences to his wife Karen, who’s also a Metro-North employee," President of Metro-North Catherine Rinaldi said Wednesday.

The MTA plans to put up a memorial to honor these workers.
