No longer will subway riders have to stare at inscrutable posters to figure out what trains aren't running or listen to garbled announcements to figure out which train to take. At least that’s the hope, with the MTA's new digital map, simply called the Live Subway Map.
It can be used on any computer or cell phone browser. When you click on your station it shows real time data about the next arriving train. Cool. But where it really excels is when you change the time from “today” to “tonight” or “weekend.” Routes that are out of service change color so you know if they’re not running. It also shows which trains will actually stop at your station.
The map also has real time info about which stations have working elevators or escalators. When you zoom in really close—it even shows where the entrance and exits are.
