MTA Vet Who Slowed Trains Down, Then Sped Them Up Retires

Before a world pandemic hit New York City and brought the largest transit system in the country to its knees, the subways were actually enjoying success. Train delays were way down, on-time performance was way up and New Yorkers were feeling better about their commutes. WNYC’s Stephen Nessen reports the turn around is in part due to an unsung MTA worker, Barry Greenblatt, who is now retiring after 34 years.
