Murphy Wants To Shut Down NJ's Only Women's Prison After Years Of Abuse Against Inmates

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said he intends to close the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility following results from an investigation into a violent assault on several inmates by correctional officers at the prison. WNYC's Morning Edition host Michael Hill spoke to Sean Sullivan, a reporter for NJ.com and the Star-Ledger about ongoing abuse at the state's only women's prison and why the governor wants to shutter the facility now.
