For months, Paterson Eastside High School in New Jersey has been embroiled in an athletic scandal tinged with allegations of human trafficking. An investigation by NJ Advance Media into the school's championship-winning boys and girls basketball teams found that several international student athletes had been living in their coaches homes with little oversight.
Earlier this week, two coaches and the school's athletic director were fired as a result of the findings -- but a report commissioned by the school district largely glossed over their roles in potential wrongdoing.
Reporter Steve Politi helped break this story. He spoke with WNYC's Richard Hake about the growing scandal and what happens next for these students.
