New York City restaurants are adding a new menu item: salt warnings. This week the city Board of Health voted on a unprecedented rule to flag chain-eatery dishes with more than the recommended daily limit of 2,300 milligrams of salt (about a teaspoon).
Dr. Sonia Angell, Deputy Commissioner for Prevention & Primary Care at the New York City Health Department, talks about the changes.

One type of salt isn’t healthier than others, says Dr. Angell. But if you grind finely you get more flavor from less.

@BrianLehrer I love an informed public, but sloppy science on salt. takes so long to make policy that the science gets dramatically updated.
