New York Council Member Robert Cornegy, Jr. On Recent Spike In Gun Violence

In recent weeks, New York City has seen a spike in gun violence. As of Monday, July 13th, there were 648 shootings across the five boroughs in 2020, up from 399 last year. And the last few days have seen several more shootings, including one in Bed-Stuy that took the life of a 1-year-old boy.

New York City Councilmember Robert Cornegy, Jr. represents Bed-Stuy and parts of Crown Heights in Brooklyn. He joined WNYC host David Furst to discuss the spate of violence amid the COVID-19 pandemic and a national debate over policing.
