
It's been just days since a jury found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty in the murder of George Floyd. Meanwhile, the conversation around public safety and how to reform policing continues in cities across the U.S.
The police department in Newark, NJ is in the midst of its own reform process that was brought about by a federal consent decree imposed in 2016 by the Obama Administration's Justice Department.
New Jersey's largest city also has a new public safety director. Brian O'Hara was named to the post in February, and he talked to WNYC's Michael Hill about reforms the city has made.
