NJ Supreme Court Reins In Newark's Civilian Oversight Of Police

New Jersey's highest court dealt a blow today to Newark's Civilian Complaint Review Board, stripping it of subpoena power during investigations of police misconduct. The ruling caps a years-long fight between New Jersey's largest city and its police union over how much power the 11-member panel should have to hold police accountable. But Newark's CCRB will still be able to conduct audits, investigate officers and review policies. All Things Considered host Jami Floyd spoke to WNYC's Karen Yi about the decision.
