
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul called the Legislature back to the Capitol for an extraordinary session Thursday to pass a bill that, among other things, would ban guns in many public places after the Supreme Court made it easier to obtain a concealed carry permit.
Things didn't quite go as planned. The Legislature packed it in around 1 a.m. after Hochul and legislative leaders spent the day negotiating the specifics.
But Hochul finally introduced the Concealed Carry Improvement Act overnight, and lawmakers are set to put it to a vote later Friday.
