Confronting Guatemala's Brutal Past In '500 Years'

Filmmaker Pamela Yates' latest documentary is about Guatemala's political revolution.

Filmmaker/journalist Pamela Yates joins us to discuss her new documentary “500 Years." The film highlights how the indigenous Mayan population of Guatemala pushed to hold former dictator General Ríos Montt accountable for genocide committed in the 1980s. It also traces the following social revolution that led to the resignation of then-President Otto Pérez Molina. "500 Years" is the third and final installment in Yates' cinematic trilogy, "The Resistance Saga," which is about the Mayan's struggle for human rights.
