WNYC's Public Song Project hosts its debut recital at Lincoln Center, featuring winners and special guests!
Hosted by Alison Stewart and Public Song Project producer Simon Close, the evening includes performances from project winners Moontripp, Candice Hoyes, Alice Lee, Mal Petty, Love? Said the Commander, and Juliette Reilly. Jake Blount and Nicole Zuraitis, who contributed to the Public Song Project album, also perform. The evening ends with a 200-audience-member kazoo orchestra led by Close, Zuraitis, and producer Zach Gottehrer-Cohen.
The Public Song Project from WNYC's All Of It with Alison Stewart invites anyone to create new music by drawing from the public domain. Working musicians and hobbyists alike contribute song covers and musical adaptations of books, poetry, films, and more, demonstrating the public domain's usefulness to creators and an opportunity to engage with history through art.
This event took place on July 20, 2024, as part of WNYC's centennial celebrations and Lincoln Center’s Civic Saturdays.
WNYC is celebrating its centennial with live events, audio programming, public art, a city-wide storytelling initiative and partnerships with other New York institutions. Visit wnyc.org/100 to learn more about how you can join the celebration of WNYC’s first — and next — 100 years.
