Logan Lerman and Sarah Gadon in INDIGNATION.

The new film, "Indignation," based on the 2008 novel by Philip Roth, is screenwriter and former Focus Features CEO James Schamus' directorial debut. The film tells the story of Marcus Messner, a Jewish college student from Newark who in 1951, transfers to a small Christian liberal arts college in Ohio in an effort to escape his repressive father. He becomes involved with a classmate named Olivia, but his parents forbid him to see her after they learn about her suicide attempt. Linda Emond, who plays Marcus’ mother, Esther, also joins the conversation.

"Indignation" opens July 29th at the Lincoln Plaza, Landmark Sunshine and the City Cinemas 1,2,3.
