Jeremy O. Harris is best known as the Tony-nominated author of "Slave Play." But he's also become a voice for change in the American theater — he wants to increase diversity and a feeling of community.
As part of that effort, he recently announced an anthology of 15 plays written by Black playwrights. It's called "The Golden Collection," after Harris' late grandfather and includes works by prominent playwrights like Lorainne Hansberry, Adrienne Kennedy and Lynne Nottage. It will be donated to public libraries and community centers in all 50 states.
Playwright and producer Harris spoke with WNYC host Sean Carlson about his vision for the theater world post-COVID.
