Poetry Month with 12 year old Poet Kalima Crawford

Poet Kalima Crawford

April is National Poetry Month, a time to celebrate verse and rhythm and imagery.

It's also the start of our poetry month challenge. Please send us your poems! Our theme this year is "normalcy," whatever that means to you in this particular moment. You can submit your poems via Twitter (@wnyc) or email them to wnycpoetry@gmail.com. And be sure to keep listening — we may read your poem on the air!

12 year old Kalima Crawford is a 7th grader at PS-MS 5 Port Morris School in the Bronx. She joined Morning Edition host Michael Hill to read one of her poems, and talk about what poetry has meant to her.
