Public Transit Still a Question as City Moves Toward Reopening

The first phase of reopening could start in New York City as soon as next month, and hundreds of thousands of people may begin returning to work. But the city remains without a clear plan to address mass transit in a safe way.

The MTA has been aggressively cleaning subways, but hasn't yet released a plan for how to deal with crowding. And many people remain nervous about the idea of being packed into a crowded train while the coronavirus remains a threat.

Dr. Scott Weisenberg is an infectious disease specialist at NYU Langone. He spoke with WNYC's Sean Carlson about some of those concerns.
