The failure to secure the Capitol Building from a mostly white mob is once again raising questions about a double standard in policing, and how we've seen it play out here in New York. The NYPD has repeatedly donned riot gear and can be seen on video attacking Black Lives Matter protesters.

Kirk Burkhalter, a professor at New York Law School and a former NYPD detective, speaks with WNYC's Sean Carlson about how that diverges from demonstrations involving Trump supporters, white supremacist groups like the Proud Boys, and the police themselves.
